Without nutrients our bodies could not create or repair tissues or be able to regulate it's internal processes.

Nutrients are essential for our bodies to function.

Nutrients are essential for our bodies to function. Here Swiss Sciences Nutrition will provide a brief rundown of the various nutrients.

Nutrients are simply chemicals we all need. They are what makes our bodies live and grow. Without nutrients our bodies could not create or repair tissues or be able to regulate it's internal processes. Many nutrients are converted to energy in the body's digestive system.

Nutrients are classified in a variety of ways. Organic nutrients or inorganic nutrients, macro-nutrients or micro-nutrients, essential nutrients or non-essential nutrients, and nutrients that provide energy or nutrients that support metabolism. The major classes of nutrients include: carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins, minerals, and water. The study of nutrients and their effects on our bodies is one of the many activities of Swiss Sciences Nutrition.

Organic nutrients such as carbohydrates, proteins, fats, and vitamins come from the materials of other living organisms while inorganic nutrients are "non-living" substances such as water, oxygen, and minerals.

Macro-nutrients like carbohydrates, protein, fat and water are nutrients that are needed in large quantities. Micro-nutrients like vitamins and minerals are only needed in small amounts.

Nutrients that cannot be created by our body's chemical processes are called essential nutrients. It is necessary to receive these types of nutrients through consumption of food or supplements. Nonessential nutrients are created within bodies.

Nutrients that provide energy include carbohydrates, proteins, and fats. They are broken down in the body's digestive system and turned into energy. Nutrients that support metabolism include dietary minerals, vitamins, and water.

A brief rundown of the different classes of nutrients is as follows:

Carbohydrates

Sugars, starches, and fiber are the nutrients classified as complex carbohydrates. Carbohydrates are found in foods like wheat, rice, noodles, corn, bread and grain-based products. Carbohydrates can have a negative effect on our health if consumed in too large a quantity, however, they are an important part of our daily diet. Highly processed simple carbohydrates such as sugars and starches can have seriously detrimental effects on our health if consumed in large quantities.

Fiber

Fiber is also a carbohydrate and can be classified as either soluble or insoluble. Fiber is a part of foods like whole grains, fruits, vegetables, and nuts. The benefits of Fiber are many. It improved digestion by passing food along in the digestive tract for one. It also helps lower blood glucose levels by slowing the absorption of sugar, which can lower the risks of such diseases as type 2 diabetes.

Proteins

The things that make up our muscles, hair, and skin are provided by proteins. Proteins are made up of amino acids. They also create enzymes, which are required by our bodies to control chemical reactions.

The Fats

Fats can be classified as either saturated or unsaturated. Animal fats are saturated fats and are recognized by being in a solid state at room temperature. Vegetable oils are unsaturated fats and are liquid at room temperature. Unsaturated fats are considered healthier than saturated fats as they are more easily broken down in our bodies. Unsaturated fats can be further broken down into omega-3 or omega-6 fatty acids. Unsaturated fats that have been "hydrogenated" are know as Trans-fats. These can be found in foods like margarine and are solid at room temperature. Trans-fats are the most unhealthy of the fats and are, if fact, quite detrimental to our health.

The Vitamins

Many vitamins are considered essential nutrients and cannot be created by the body but must be consumed in the form of food or supplements. Vitamin deficiencies can lead to many diseases like, cancer, premature aging, and immune system impairment.

Minerals

Substances not found in organic tissue but that are required nutrients are called minerals. Among the primary minerals we consume are sodium, calcium, and magnesium. Minerals are often artificially added to our diets in the form of supplements.

Foods will invariably contain a mixture of nutrient classes. While most nutrients are stored inside out bodies many others have to be taken in on a fairly regular basis. A deficiency of the required nutrients can lead to poor health. Swiss Sciences Nutrition suggests you eat a well balanced diet containing a sufficient amount of the required nutrients. I never thought I'd be back to the weight I was in college. Since college, I had a gradual weight gain of 20 pounds over a period of about 10 years. After taking Revivatox for 2 months, I weigh in at 118 lbs.

Swiss Sciences was a really pleasant company to deal with. Their customer service team is very accomodating and knowledgeable. I've started taking their product called Liquiboost and I feel more energized. I've lost 13 pounds over a period of 5 weeks.

Please do yourself a favor and take Liquiboost! It will be the easiest way to lose weight but it also improves your health! Buy Liquiboost and exercise just 20-30 minutes per day and you'll see amazing results.

I was very impressed with Body Type Wellness as far as the quality of product and the pricing. I really liked how the rebate program allows you to get 1 out of 3 months free. I've been on the product for 3 weeks and so far I've lost 12 pounds.

Going through menopause was really difficult for me. I was experiencing a lot of side effects including weight that I couldn't shed. I heard about Body Type Wellness. I took the quiz to find your body type and mine was the Ovary Bodytype which explained a lot of the problems I'd been experiencing. By the time I completed the program, my menopausal symptoms had greatly decreased, not to mention- I lost 32 pounds!

This type of nutritional information is unfortunately ignored by most of our country. This is why we are facing such an epidemic of obesity. Thanks for the great information on nutrients.

As a former high blood pressure patient, i found that eating a diet high in plant foods such as veggies and fruits helped to normalize my HPB and i lost a bunch of weight. Anyone who eats a diet low in veggies and fruit can only be eating a diet counter-productive to a healthy lifestyle. These foods are the cornerstone of health and should be eaten in large amounts everyday along with plenty of water!

While working to eliminate extra body fat from my 300 pound body, i replaced most of the starches from my diet and replaced them with a good amount of fruits and veggies. This plan helped to get rid of 90 pounds of fat from my body while strengthening my immune system and giving me unlimited energy.

You must have carbs for your body to function at optimum levels BUT your body operates best when your carbs are kept low. Excess calories in the diet are the cause of inflammation and obesity. Unless you are training for an Olympic event, you should keep your starches to a minimum.

The following advice probably applies to apples as well. Some research has shown dried blueberries to be as much as four times higher in antioxidants than their fresh counterparts. However, because most drying processes cause significant loss of nutrients and concentrate sugar and calories, fresh fruit is a better bet in terms of nutrition.

Being a former hypertension patient, i recently found that eating a diet rich in plant foods which include vegetables and fruits helped to normalize my HPB and i lost a lot of weight. Anyone who eats a diet reduced veggies and fruit can only be eating a diet counter-productive to a healthy lifestyle. These food types are definitely the cornerstone of health and should really be eaten in large amounts everyday in conjunction with quite a lot of water!

I attempt to eat as much fresh and raw fruits/veggies as I can through the day. If I grow it in my garden, then bonus points to me. I also quit enriched flour a very long time ago, and it was obviously a great nutritional decision. I'd advise that everybody does the same. Whole grain bread, rolls and bagels only, from now on. Also i think they taste much better. And then, reading labels is HUGELY important! I can not even explain how many times I'll find high fructose corn syrup and/or sugar substitutes in products.

I have found that maintaining a healthy diet isn't so complicated once you return to the basics-incorporating more fruits & vegetables, beans, legumes, whole grain products, nuts, seeds and lean proteins like fish into your specific diet. If your meals revolve around these wholefoods then keeping your weight manageable or trying to lose weight becomes simpler. Perhaps because We're first generation, my parents originate from Europe (Mediterranean region) it doesn't seem so strange in my opinion to eat by doing this. You have to ease into it by looking into making small changes (i.e. include 1 bean based meal/week), eventually your body will become accustomed to it and you won't plan to go back to eating processed foods.

In my opinion a lot of us are fat out there since most of the food accessible to us these days is processed. You don't need to diet - you'll just put the weight back on once you quit this diet making it tougher for yourself next time. The thing is our body is built to keep ourselves alive. If we start diminishing the quantity we were previously eating, your body is likely to say "hey, hold on a sec - famine!" and alter it's chemistry so that it'll store excess fat whenever it could.
